Lucky is an eye-catching, confident, flashy 8-year-old pinto gelding who was back-yard raised and trained and has been ridden in all weather conditions, over all types of terrain. Lucky's owner encouraged him to go anywhere and at any speed that the owner asked for... they have walked quietly down the road or beside the railroad tracks as a train zooms by and have also galloped down deer trails through the trees in the dark. They have mostly ridden out alone, but have also ridden with a friend or two and in large groups of riders. Lucky has been ridden out through chest-deep snow for hours to cut down and drag home a Christmas tree, several times. Everywhere that his owner has ridden Lucky, people have commented on the horse's beauty, charisma and proud stature under saddle. Lucky is very athletic, powerful and fast, and his owner has had a total blast as he and Lucky covered hundreds of miles over the last few years in the desert and throughout the Cascade Mountains. Lucky is playful, yet mannerly when he respects you. He longes on a line or moves at liberty in a round pen, slowing or speeding up on command as well as reversing quick as a wink when cued. He enjoys being played with or groomed, is good to bathe, shoe, tie, halter, and loads and hauls nicely. Lucky tucks his chin, neck reins lightly and walks out briskly or goes into a run with a squeeze and a cluck. Lucky's owner loves this strong, pretty horse very much so wants to find Lucky a really great new home where he will be enjoyed and ridden. Since Lucky is intelligent and quick to respond (although NOT spooky) he will do best with a intermediate or better rider. He might excel in endurance and certainly would make a great big-circle ranch horse, since his gaits are VERY smooth and he can go all day long without tiring. Lucky is up-to-date on his shots, worming, shoeing and tooth-floating; is presently in hard-muscled condition; and lives in the Bend area of central Oregon. He is only being sold because his owner wants to start traveling and knows that it wouldn't be fair to Lucky to leave him just standing around.
