"Red" had lots of
professional training to take advantage of his good cutting and working
cow horse bloodlines going back to DOC BAR, HARLAN'S TYREE, SKUNK FACE
and more. He is a bright red chestnut/sorrel with just a splash of
flash, a handsome head, beautiful shapely neck, good shoulder and wither,
powerful hindquarters, and straight well-boned legs with good feet. Red
is very athletic and can really use his back and hindquarters to "stick
it in the ground". He is a natural lead changer, can spin, neck reins
lightly and works mostly off of leg and weight changes in the saddle. He
has been used as a lesson horse for experienced riders to give them the
feel of what a well-trained and responsive horse truly is, so he will do
best with a knowledgeable rider who enjoys a quick, willing and light
horse that responds well to cues. Red's prior owner used him as a High
School Equestrian Team mount where he was ridden in a drill team,
parades and for team penning, which he really excelled at. Red is good
on trails too, but really needs a job on a ranch or a new owner who
enjoys riding often in competitions or to work cattle. Red is easy to
catch, mannerly on the ground (no vices) and loads and hauls fine. If
you are looking for a versatile new rodeo horse or a good new ranch
horse, his owners think you will really appreciate Red with his cow
sense, training and athletic abilities. He is only being sold because
his owners have recently gotten involved in a new business and they
won't have much time to give to Red. Red might quality to be
cross-registered in one or both of the Foundation Quarter Horse
registries, so if you enjoy their shows and competitions, you should
check that out. This handsome, balanced and sound gelding is current on
all health care and lives in Redmond, in central Oregon.
