"Big Mama" is a well-bred Thoroughbred mare who ran on the tracks and WON two races at 6 and 6.5 furlongs, earning some nice money, as a 4-year-old. Her current owner heard that she got injured or frightened in the starting gate shortly thereafter, so she was retired from the track to become a broodmare. Since Big Mama has been running in a herd on the ranch she appears to be sound, so her owner believes that she may have potential to become a hunter or jumper, with her size and bloodlines. She is mannerly to handle on the ground and has been easy to cover and get in foal. She has a very nice chestnut appendix AQHA filly at her side right now, who is ALSO bred for speed. The filly, nicknamed "Catty", is sired by ANYOLDTIME AQHA, who is by CALYX by DASH FOR CASH, and out of Time For Joan by NOW IS THE TIME (TB). Catty is leggy, athletic and correct with a very friendly disposition, and was imprinted at birth. Since Catty won't be ready to wean for several more months, Big Mama and Catty are being sold together. All the horses (and mules) on the Double J Ranch are kept current on their worming and shots, including West Nile. The little ranch is selling all their stock and is located in the central-eastern John Day Valley area of Oregon.
