Sandy is a cute, quiet, sound little 6-year-old red dun mare with well balanced conformation. She is friendly, respectful and has excellent ground manners being easy to catch, clip, bathe, shoe and loads and hauls nicely. Sandy was purchased by her current owner, a professional trainer, a few years ago because of her good conformation and mind as well as her athletic abilities - her lack of registration papers didn't matter. She has proven to be a really smart little mare - a willing learner and a good student who retains her training and doesn't need any tune-ups if she isn't ridden for weeks or months at a time. Sandy is quick, catty and has a great deal of cow sense - she naturally locks onto a steer and can read it, so she would be a great deal of fun to compete in team sorting or penning. She has also been introduced to the barrels and poles, which she seems to enjoy and is good about having a rope thrown off her and dragging objects. Sandy is sensible, sure-footed and not spooky so is also great on the trails and could be an outstanding 'trail challenge' competitor. She has lots of go when asked for, is light in the bridle, neck reins well, responds to leg or weight cues, stand quietly for mounting and dismounting and lives in Powell Butte in central Oregon.
